Surface Design

Corded Binding

Don't be fooled into thinking that this cording is
hard to do. You will be amazed by the simple
steps that will take your quilt to another level.
Your family and friends will be in awe. Lois will
teach you a new method of applying any binding
that is not only accurate, but also very easy.

Stencilling - New and Improved

Stencils provide a wonderful opportunity to repeat
an image across a piece of fabric. Participants will
use purchased pre-cut stencils, as well as design
and cut their own from a variety of materials.
Students will transfer stencil images to cloth using
Shiva Paintstiks, and/or fabric paint. Each
technique enriches the fabric surface with colour
and design.

Thread Play 1- Basic

Play with your sewing machine as you begin to
explore free motion stitching techniques. Drop
the feed dogs, adjust tensions and learn to use a
hoop as you start thread sketching. The complete
Thread Play program is done on a regular sewing
machine.

Thread Play 2 - Stabilizers

How do we stop puckers from happening? Which
products to use? Get all the answers to many
questions regarding stabilization of fabric with or

Basic Bargello

Inspired by a traditional needlepoint stitch, a
bargello quilt pattern is one that beginner or
advanced quilters can master. In this class we will

Blendable Curves

Working from the book 'Blendable Curves',
freehand curves give a feeling of motion to a basic
patchwork quilt pattern. This class will give you
the techniques to put away the pins and make a
stunning curved style quilt. Leave the plastic ruler
aside and use that rotary cutter 'free hand'. Use a
simple block or make a non-patch or log-cabin
block as the basis for your quilt. There is no need
to match points!

Who can resist the appeal of a Lone Star Quilt?
This second Lone Star Design by Karen Stone is a
great quilt to use up your scraps. Using the adda-
quarter ruler for the paper piecing technique
makes it so easy to get all the sharp points.
During the 4 classes you will learn how to select a
pleasing palette from your fabric, create the
diamond shaped foundations, and use value to
design the sections of the quilt, alternate
methods of appliqué. Finally, at the last class you
will bring all the sections together for a stunning
one-of-a-kind quilt.

Learn two techniques of weaving and stabilizing
curved strips of fabric into a background palette.

Rug Hooking

Enjoy an old craft with wools. Varying the width
of the strip and using one easy stitch makes it
possible to hook any design. We will use ¼” strips
hooked through burlap. Originally done as rugs,
there are now many creative objects to use this

Master Quilter Classes

Required classes have been planned to expand on technical and design knowledge. These classes total 48 hours of instruction. They may be taken in any sequence. Master Quilters Program Optional Classes allow further development in areas of personal interest. These are marked with a and will total 52 hours of instruction. Upon completion of these classes, a certificate and an increase in the birthday bonus to 25% (personal use only) will be awarded. All of
these classes are also open to anyone not
taking the Master Quilter Program as long as
the prerequisites are met.
